About Visithra

Visithra Manikam is a self-taught Malaysian woman visual artist and photographer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Working across acrylic, clay, illustration, glitch art, and animation, she constructs a visual language that draws from psychology, eastern philosophy, and symbolism to interpret the intricate architecture of human behavior. Her works are narrative-driven, yet open-ended, inviting reflection on the often unspoken tensions of identity, politics, racism, colorism, and feminism. Through both tangible and digital forms, her work seeks to translate the personal into the collective—evoking, questioning, and remembering.

As a member of a minority community in Malaysia, her practice becomes both witness and resistance—rendering the lived realities of discrimination into visual form. Her pieces act as quiet confrontations, embodying stories that are frequently overlooked or silenced.

In 2024, she held her first international and museum solo exhibition at CICA Museum in Seoul, further affirming her place in the global visual dialogue.

Her creative path expanded globally through the NFT space, where her works began circulating among collectors worldwide, including notable figures such as Cozomo De Medici. Signore Cozomo, who recently donated the largest collection of blockchain artwork to LACMA. Today, her art is in the hands of multiple collectors worldwide.

Her art has been exhibited in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Cochin, Mumbai, Udaipur (India), Liverpool, UK, Lisbon, Netherlands, Dubai, Moscow, Tokyo, Osaka, Japan; Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia; Seoul, South Korea, Taiwan, Berlin and more.

She was the first Malaysian visual artist to be featured on Times Square, New York Billboards in 2022. She was also a speaker at NFT NYC 2022. She was on boarded to Superrare - becoming the first Malaysian woman artist to be accepted. She was named one of Asia’s Most Influential in 2022 by Tatler Asia.
